CNN reports the White okayed expanding the use of Predator Drone attacks in Pakistan.

Great. Now can I officially start disliking President Obama now? Can I just call him Obama like I called Bush, “Bush”, instead of “President Bush”?
I admit, like most Americans (and damn near all African-Americans) I drank some of the Obama Kool-Aid. C’mon, it was a difficult time in history.
Bush was going out the door. The economy was falling apart. The alluring thought of not just a Black president, but a president with a Muslim name. All of those things seduced me to take a few sips of the Obama Kool-Aid (you know it was red, not blue).
But I never took enough to actually vote for the guy. Absolutely not. I’ve all but disavowed American politics.
Now, I’m pretty darn close to disavowing President Obama. He has not yet closed Guantanamo (though admittedly, he did make an attempt), we’re still in Iraq (though I believe we’re drawing down), and the economy still sucks (though not as scary as before).
I’m upste about this decision to continue the war in Afghanistan, though that wasn’t a surprise. We all knew it was going to happen (heck, it was part of his campaign).
But these drone attacks are horrific. According to a Brookings Institute report, they kill 10 civilians for every terrorist (i.e. Muslim who dislikes America and Israel).
Yes, that’s 10 to 1.
There have been 40 drone attacks this year. Assuming each attack killed at least one terrorist (i.e. Muslim who dislikes America and Israel), that’s at least 400 civilians.
But it’s been much, much more than that.
And I have no idea why Pakistan allows America to do it. But that’s another story. I don’t condone the “Taliban insurrection” going on right now in Pakistan at all. However, it’s no surprise many people see the Pakistan government as a U.S. pawn when they allow the U.S. to indiscriminately kill their own civilians.
Well, it’s time to pour my Kool-Aid down the drain and join the legions of people, like filmmaker Michael Moore, who are disappointed in this Obama’s decisions.
