America’s Downfall: Part I

In the words of Agent Smith: It is inevitable. America’s downfall is nigh. Our dominance is waning. Our economic system is proven worthless. Our confidence is gone.

Here’s why:

  • The United States is involved in two wars. While we may still be able to pull our asses out of Iraq with grace, most experts predict Afghanistan will be more difficult. It may be Obama’s Vietnam as it was Russia’s.
  • Our economy is in shambles. Despite pouring TRILLIONS of dollars into the economy, unemployment is just under 10% (over 15% in some areas) and predicted to go higher. No one buys our cars. Americans don’t even buy American cars. People are working harder, spending more, and earning less.
  • We still can’t get healthcare right. Xenophobia and racism are just as American as apple pie. No one can accept some form of universal healthcare even though lack of it has obviously contributed to the downfall of our manufacturing sector. A combination of stupid, quasi-racist, right wing celebrities and xenophobic quasi-racist rednecks will tea party and NASCAR this country into permanent healthcare debt.

And now, there is one final straw that is going to crack this star-spangled camel’s back.

First, let me give a little background information.

What do you think makes this world go around?

Love? Don’t be foolish.

Hate? Don’t be so dramatic.

Sex? Now you’re just being plain silly.

Money? You’re getting closer.

Oil? Bingo.

That thick, black liquid that flows beneath the feet of millions of Muslims is what really makes this planet spin.

Oil powers our modern cities.

Oil keeps the world’s armies going strong to kill another day. Without oil, America’s planes and tanks are little more than gigantic paperweights.

Every country on the planet needs oil.

Every. Single. Country.

We don’t all need corn. We don’t all need coffee (I do, but maybe you don’t). We don’t all need fiber optics.

But every nation in the world needs oil in some form or another.

Why do you think the U.S. (and several other nations) are so determined to maintain a toehold in the Middle East? You didn’t really think George Bush cares if little Iraqi kids grow up in a democracy did you?

Did you?

Why do you think the U.S. makes sure Israel is the most powerful country in the Middle East? You didn’t really think America still feels guilt over the horrors of the holocaust (which was perpetrated by Germany)?

Did you?

It’s all for oil.

But the plot get’s thicker.

Like I said…every country in the world uses oil.

And every drop of oil on this planet, whether it comes from China, Texas, Russia, or Saudi Arabia, is bought and sold in American dollars.

Remember that boys and girls. There’s going to be a quiz later this week. Okay, not really. But it’s still important.

Why is this important?

Because oil is the backbone of America’s economy.

That’s all we have. Oil and warfare. We don’t do too much else in this country.

Okay…we’ve still got Hollywood.

Without the demand for American dollars, this economy would have collapsed years ago. And this demand only exists because all oil on this planet must be bought and sold with American dollars.

This setup is so important, George Bush was willing to go to fake a war, overthrow a sovereign nation, install a puppet government, and waste thousands of American lives (and tens of thousands of Iraqi lives) in order to maintain it.

Where’s my proof, you say?

No concrete proof obviously. But some very striking coincidences.

In the year 2000, the same year George Bush got “elected” to President, Saddam Hussein, ruler of Iraq, decided to stop selling his nation’s oil for U.S. dollars. He went against the grain, and demanded only Euros for his oil.

Why’d he do this? I don’t know. Maybe because the U.S. dollar was slipping. Maybe because he just didn’t like us (after all, we did try to kill him and bombed his country many many many times over.)

Who knows? Who cares? It’s not important.

What is important, is what happened next. A little over a year later, America was attacked by terrorists in NY and DC.

A few months later, America went to war in Afghanistan.

By 2002, America was saying Iraq was next on the list.

In early 2003, America invaded Iraq. Iraq was captured within 15 days.

By June of that same year, Iraq was churning out oil again…this time for good ol’ American greenbacks.

Six months later, Saddam Hussein was captured. Three years later, he was dead.

There’s more. Oh boy, is there so much more.

But not now.

This is a lot of information to digest for one day. Chew on these words for a while, and I’ll come back with more tomorrow. Inshallah (God willing).
