Americans Arrested in Pakistan

Five American Muslims were arrested in Pakistan, accused of planning terrorist attacks and joining a militant group in Pakistan.

The five Muslims are Umar Farooq, Ahmed Abdullah, Waqar ul Hassan and Imam Hassan Yasir. It should be noted that the U.S. government has not confirmed that these men are all American citizens or if they were definitely conspiring some sort of violent acts.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke about the case a little but didn’t say any of real significance about it.

One of the men was a dental student at Howard University in Washington D.C. Here’s a picture of Ramy Zamzam from his Facebook page:

These men went missing last month and their families called CAIR (Council of American Islamic Relations) who then notified the FBI.

They were arrested in a raid on a house in Sargodha, Pakistan.

Right now, none of this is looking too good. Not for them. Not for American Muslims in general. If it is true these kids went to Pakistan to join a militant organization, I really have to wonder what was going through their heads.

There are too many things happening in rapid succession involving American Muslims. I know Allah is the best of protectors. I just hope He continues to protect us.

Since the end of October (less than two months) the following incidents have occurred involving American Muslims:

  1. The shooting death of Imam Luqman Abdullah
  2. The attack at Fort Hood
  3. Imam Anwar Al-Awlaki’s comments on that attack
  4. The Somali-Americans suspected of fighting in Somalia
  5. The arrest of David Headley in connection with the Mumbai attacks last year.
  6. And now this.

Did I miss anything?

Couple that with a good portion of the country thinking the President is a closet Muslim and a fresh attack on Afghanistan. I’m just not feeling too comfortable with the way things are going these days.

May Allah protect us all.
